The Historical Research Library of the Ventura County Museum of History & Art contains materials relating to Ventura County from pre-history to the present. These materials include: books, periodicals, maps, architectural plans and drawings, manuscripts, clipping and ephemeral files, newspapers and the largest collection of Ventura County historical photographs gathered anywhere. The Research Library is open to the general public without fee, and Library staff will assist patrons at every level of research.

Services
The Research Library is a non-circulating collection accessible through the Library card catalogue and a number of specialized indexes. For photocopying, photograph reproduction (including requests for permission to publish images and text) and special research fees, please ask for a copy of our rate schedule. Museum members receive a 20% discount on all photographs ordered. The Research Library is open 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Tuesday-Friday, and Saturday 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM.; it is closed Sunday and Monday.
