One of the typical special occasions in your child’s life is the first haircut. Whether your child is only a few months old or a few years old, you can tell when a haircut is needed. Perhaps your son is constantly mistaken for a girl, or your daughter’s hair always seems to be in her eyes. Whatever the case, it is probably time to find a hair salon that caters to kids, provided you are not a whiz with the scissors.
Before choosing a salon, you should make sure the staff has experience cutting children’s hair. Kids tend to get squirmy, and may find it hard to sit still when they are either scared or do not know what is going on. Find out if the salon in question has a minimum or maximum age so you know whether your child will be welcome there.
You should also choose a location that offers a few extras. Most salon owners know how important this milestone is to you, which is why they may take a picture during the haircut so you can frame it. Some salons also collect some of the hair in a small bag so you can place it in your child’s baby book to remind you of this special occasion. Find out if these services cost extra. If so, and the price for the extra features is too high for you, then taking along your own camera and small bag for the hair may help you save money when you get your child’s first haircut.
